Library Lists is the name of the Library's reading list management system, which can help you find lists of required course reading. The lists contain both print and online resources and are linked directly from your unit Moodle pages.
You can also use your Library List to manage your reading, marking reading as complete or incomplete and then filtering by these tags.
In this guide...
Getting started with my Library List
You can access your reading list through each unit on Moodle, just select the Library List Link from the left hand menu as in the image below:
You will then be prompted to open the List in another window:
You can also click on the icon on your Moodle page
Once you have accessed your Library List from Moodle, you will see that it is broken down into sections and reading is tagged as Essential, Recommended and Background. This can help you identify priority reading.
You can use your Library List to see the availability of print texts in the Library. From the main Library List entry:
You can get more detailed information by clicking directly on the relevant item and you will see additional loan information:
If all of the print copies are on loan, you will see 'check holdings' in the main Library List entry:
You can then click on the item and select 'reserve' to place a hold on the text.
You can view online books and journals directly from your Library List.
You can also report a broken link via the Library List, by clicking on the title of the book or journal and selecting the 'broken link' button:
You can adapt the Library List software to make your lists more suited to your needs. You can amend settings in the accessibility menu to adjust the contrast and font size.
To access the Accessibility Menu, click on your initials on the top right-hand side of the page and select accessibility menu.
You can set your Library Lists to open with all of the sections collapsed. This can make it easier to navigate to the relevant section that you require.
To do this, you click on the three dots on the right hand side of the title of the list, then select 'set section collapsed'.
You can also do this each time you go into your Lists, by clicking on the toggle button on the top left menu
This menu also allows you to:
You can export your library list to word, if you wish to annotate it or print it out.
You can also export your Library List to Endnote in order to help with your referencing.
You can do this three ways
To export the whole list or a section of the list, click on the Reading List options ‘...’ and click export. From the dropdown, select the export to endnote link, open endnote. Then double click on the download and it adds automatically.
For the add to collection, select the item and click on the ‘copy to my collection’. Under the menu at the top left, click on collections, can select as many of the items in your collection as you like by clicking on the tick box on the left.
Select the Collection Items ‘...’, then export and export to endnote.
You can then import citations from endnote into word and select Harvard (Bath). You have to have set up this up in Endnote before, exporting from Library Lists. You can do this by following instructions on installing the EndNote toolbar in word below.
