Student guide: Library Lists - Student guide

How to guide for students using reading list software

What is Library Lists and why use it?

Library Lists is the name of the Library's reading list management system, which can help you find lists of required course reading. The lists contain both print and online resources and are linked directly from your unit's Moodle pages.

Benefits of using Library Lists

  • All your units' reading in one place.
  • Direct access to essential reading
  • Links to online books, journal articles and more.
  • Live updates of whether your reading is available in the library.

You can also use your Library List to manage your reading, marking reading as complete or incomplete and then filtering by these tags.

How do I find my Library List?

You can access your reading list directly through each unit on Moodle.

Getting started with my Library List

Once you have accessed your Library List from Moodle, you will see that it is broken down into sections and readings are tagged as Essential, Recommended or Background.  This can help you identify priority reading.

The Library List will allow you to see the availability of print texts in the Library and place a hold if an item is currently on loan.

You can view online books and journals directly from your Library List, as well as reporting any broken links.

Navigating your Library Lists

Searching, filtering and collapsing sections can allow you to more easily navigate your Library List.

Making your Library List more accessible

You can adapt the Library List software to make your lists view more suited to your needs.   You can amend settings in the accessibility menu to adjust the contrast and font size.

Exporting your Library List

You can export your Library List to Endnote in order to help with your referencing.

You can export the whole list or a section of the list.
