The databases listed on this page are there to help you find articles and other resources for your assignments and projects beyond your recommended reading list. Most of the database include link buttons so that you can check if an article is available from the Library catalogue. A few databases also include direct links to some of the articles they list.

The databases will include some items that are not in the Library collection. Anything you find that is not available via the Library, you can request via the Inter-Library Loan service.

Covers UK and international news including and provides full-text of press articles, including major world newspapers and the trade/advertising press.

News coverage includes the Financial Times from 1982 with a 30 day embargo. Note that the FT is not in the UK newspapers group search (filter) in the Power Search.

Journal articles and books relating to anthropology, economics, political science and sociology - coverage from 1951 onwards.
Social Policy and Practice
Index to evidence-based social science research, including grey literature

Social Policy and Practice simultaneously searches databases including AgeInfo, ChildData and Social Care Online. Many of its records refer to reports, legislation, local/national government docents, organisations, policies, press coverage and service user knowledge. Its focus is on applied research and practice.
